About Us
Est. 2017
Moose (as he will affectionately be known here) and I met in August 2017. Our first date was out on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, exploring the Kentucky countryside. Within those first two weeks, I knew he was the person I was going to spend the rest of my life with. We have had our stumbles and in the first six months, couldn't make it work - our demons were tearing us apart. We spent 80 days apart until my HSA tax form brought us back together in April 2018. We have worked hard in the last year to re-prioritize our lives to focus on our next big adventure, building our farmstead in Anderson County, KY.
Being the 14th generation on the same farm in Bullitt County, Moose knew from an early age that he wanted two things in his life, to farm and to fight. When he said fight, he wanted to be a soldier. From a family with not only a rich farming tradition, but also a tradition of military service, he is a veteran of the United States Army; a Cavalry Scout with the 1st Cavalry Division. After being discharged, one of the ways he found an outlet for his creative and underutilized skills has been building rustic and Americana style furniture with an industrial touch.
Miss Kitty, best known in our family as Lump, is Moose’s service dog. She is a rough and rowdy rescue, taking after her namesake, Miss Kitty Russell of Gunsmoke fame. She was no bigger than a field mouse when she was found in a Wal-Mart parking lot more than nine years ago. She is our Muse and mascot, so there was no better choice when naming our farmstead!
I am a self-proclaimed basic white girl from upstate New York. I made my pilgrimage to Kentucky in October 2015 after my grad school roommate helped convince me that Louisville was a great city, filled with opportunity. I decided that my life needed a change, and this would be the best place for that - and it has been! After turning 30 this past year, I have begun to evaluate what in my life that truly makes me happy. Those things are creating, being outside, and living life with my family on our own terms. It has always been a dream of mine to have a farm and when I met Moose, I saw my dreams coming true.
We look forward sharing our journey with you! - Moose, Lump, and Taylor
